SJL R3 - Match Reports

Game 1 - The development team have started to grow out of their status! The first quarter was a struggle and Batemans Bay have certainly got stronger and really put it to us. We did make it easy for them with a 21% shooting percentage and not also taking a lot of shots. The team made a change in the second quarter with pressure defence and getting some extra steals with some good passes into the transition which resulted in more points.

The second half started well and the team defence put pressure on the opposition and with better shooting from us gave the team a points break and the game.

Lachie lead with a 73% shooting effort and backed up by Rhys and Tyler. Our game was also improved by the amount of assists especially by Lachie, Nash and Taj Miller. We are a team and the help that the team is getting from our coaching staff Greg and Mark also from our manager Glen is now so making this team grow into a representative boys team. Well done guys on the results you are giving to the association.

Game 2 - Our second game on Saturday against Merimbula was a better start for the team and we worked better and the game went as planned. We had to put back because of the mercy rule . This shortened the game but we persevered and came out with a Win!

Game 3 - Sundays first game against Queanbeyan and was suppose to our second hardest game but the team took it on with a lot of positive offensive pressure and matched with good help defence gave the team a good start and we kept the lead in all four quarters going to a win by 19 pts. We had a good blend of the different offence sets and worked on our Zoom play which seemed to pay off for us. The whole team contributed and we came up with a Win.

Game 4 - Moss Vale is our strongest matchup and our last game on Sunday. They are a much bigger side and force us to play a different style of defence! The first quarter was basket to basket and we got a few stops and took advantage of this to get a 10 pt lead and we needed to work hard to keep it up to half time. We had all 10 player contribute and we came away with a solid 11 point win. Our team started as a development team of mixed talents and have over the last 12 game become a solid team that could had competed in a higher division. I would like to thank them for their hard work and attitude this weekend.
