Thank You and Farewell to our Head of Basketball; Ben Bagoly


Basketball Illawarra farewells Ben Bagoly as he steps away from his role as Head of Basketball.


During his time with Basketball Illawarra, Ben has played a pivotal role in shaping the direction, culture, and standards of our junior and senior representative programs. His leadership extended far beyond winning and losing, Ben brought with him a wealth of knowledge and care to take our Illawarra athletes, members, and staff to the next level.


Executive General Manager Nathan Loveday expressed the thoughts of many who have worked with Ben;


“On behalf of the Illawarra Basketball Association, I would like to sincerely thank Ben Bagoly for his dedication and service to the Association over a number of years. Ben’s contribution has played a significant role in shaping the organisation we are today, and his positive impact will be felt for many years to come. Ben will be a significant loss to the Association.”

Ben's impact can be felt and seen across the entirety of Basketball Illawarra. Stepping into numerous roles over his tenure, Ben consistently balanced leadership across coaching, rep program oversight, and strategic development, while also playing a key role in strengthening pathways and opportunities throughout the association. His work supported the growth of participation, the development of representative programs, and the building of competitive senior teams, with a strong commitment to professionalism and integrity.


Ben leaves behind a meaningful legacy at the Illawarra Basketball Association, and the impact of his work will continue to be felt long after his departure.
