  • New Hawks Development Program

    Spots are filling fast for our new Hawks Development Program. The program is designed to give our Junior athletes a chance to train as an age group to develop their fundamentals and some basic team concepts. U14 BOYS - FULL U16 BOYS - ONLY 5 SPOTS LEFT ALL OTHER GROUPS FILLING UP FAST The program's goal is to allow athletes who play in our Local Competition a chance to train and develop their skills to take their game to the next level. The program will commence at the start of term 3, with each age group having their own time, separating boys and girls on the court. Qualified coaches will run the sessions with years of experience in our Rep program: U12 Sessions - Wednesday 4:30pm-5:30pm - Starts July 20 U14 Sessions - Friday 5:15pm-6:15pm - Starts July 22 U16 Sessions - Monday 4:30pm-5:30pm - Starts July 18 U18 Sessions - Tuesday 4:30pm-5:30pm - Starts July 19 Enquiries - development@snakepit.com.au

  • Tim Coenraad joins Illawarra's NBL1 team

    Basketball Illawarra is excited to announce that 350+ NBL Game Veteran, Tim Coenraad, will be suiting up for our NBL1 East Men's Team for the remainder of the season. Tim will be making his debut this weekend at the Snakepit when we take on the Canberra Gunners! Doors open from 12pm with our Youth Teams playing at 1 & 3pm and then the Senior Teams playing at 5:30 & 7:30pm.

    IBA is running a FREE program for kids aged 3-5 years old who want to learn how to play basketball! When: Every Tuesday from August 2 & runs for 8 weeks Where: The Snakepit Time: 10:30 - 11:30 Ages: 3-5 years Cost: FREE (Please note, parents must attend and remain for the duration of each session)

  • Term 3 2022 – Sunday's U10 Girls is back

    The purpose of this program is to provide an opportunity for all girls in the U10s or U8s bracket to learn to play before entering the Local Competition Summer Competition. It allows girls to learn to play in a safe and supportive environment with other young aspiring female coaches. When: Sunday Mornings (Term 3 2022 ONLY) Where: The Snakepit Time: 10:30-11:30am Cost: $100 (7 weeks + Basketball + Reversible Singlet) Dates: July 31, August 14/21/28, September 4/11/18 Competition Structure: - 4 teams of 7 players (could be more depending on the number of registrations) - 2x 20min halves (no score will be kept – it will be about fun and learning rather than winning) - Each team will be allocated a female coach for the games every week (Coach will coach on the run and referee on the run) Please note, that everyone needs to register separately using the link to confirm numbers. If you have friends who would like to register please pass it on to them directly.

  • Illawarra refs officiate at U16 Australian Junior Championships

    Congratulations to James Poelczer & Molly Manns who participated as officials at the U/16 Australian Junior Championships held in Perth just recently. Molly & James both had a great week with James scooping up the Women’s gold medal match as the crew chief. An awesome achievement for two of our senior Waratah & NBL1 Referees.

  • U16 Australian Junior Championships update

    Basketball Illawarra players Josh Spark & Emerson McCrea, and coaches Tom Farrar & Maddy Delaney represented NSW Country at the Basketball Australia Junior Championships in Perth last week. Both teams ended the tournament well winning their classification games and play off game to finish in 9th place. The U16 Country Girls were also awarded the 2022 Trish Fallon Fair Play Award recognising the team that conducts itself in a respectful manner over the course of the Championship.

  • Josh Dent helps lead Australia to Gold at the FIBA U16 Asian Champs.

    Congrats to Josh Dent and the Australian Team grabbing the gold at FIBA U16 Asian Championship! Josh had 12 points, 7 rebounds 5 assists in the final. From Basketball NSW Congratulations to the Under 17 Crocs who this morning defeated Japan 94-63 to take home their second straight U16 Asian Championship. Special mention to our two NSW representatives who were standouts in the match: Josh Dent (Basketball Illawarra / NBA GA) - 12pts 7reb 5ast James O’Donnell (Norths Basketball / NBA GA) - 11pts 12reb 2ast Along with NSW / Bankstown Bruins/ Cairns Taipans representative Sam Gruggen as the assistant coach. Now the team will head to the U17 World Cup in Malaga, Spain 2-10 July. #WeAreNSW
