- U/14 Boys Development Team
SJL Under 14 Boys Div 3 Game 1 - The team started well and put a 3/4 man to man defence with a lot pressure to jump out to a 17 to nil in the first quarter. All 10 player used and same in the second quarter. The team has worked well in training and we’re doing it the same in their first game this weekend. In this game we pushed on with pressure man defence but found that the opposition was lacking, so in the 3rd quarter because of the score we had to pull back to halfway but that didn’t stop the score and we came away with a 60 plus win. Congratulations to the team who are working well with each other and all are contributing. Game 2 - Played 2nd game against Merimbula who were a bigger team. They how ever were not a quick we also played a 3/4 man to man defence and managed to double team on a number of occasions to get good steels and baskets. Over all the team is playing well and all ten players are getting good game time and are sharing in another 50 point win. Game 3 is the test of what we have been training for the last couple of trainings. Game 3 - This will be our hardest game against Moss Vale, they have a big player and we have trained the last week with a change in defence. We are playing in front of him and forcing him to move away from his norm. Well it seemed to work as we won by 19 pts and the whole team contributed and we had a good points spread. Game 4 - Our. Last game for the weekend against Queanbeyan and it was running late and both teams were tired and had a hard weekend! We started well but was not as we were normally lead the first half by only 12 pts and making a lot of silly errors and come in to the big break. Needed to adjust our passing and get back to basics. The 3rd Qrt was better and the last we did some good defence and went ahead to take the game by 29 in the end. Over all a good result for the weekend. Congratulations to the team who all contributed. - U/12 Boys SJL Div 2
The Under 12 Boys Div 2 started their SJL season off with 3/3 wins. For many of the boys, it was their first taste of representative basketball. Our first game was against Moss Vale Magic, a great match-up to kickstart the weekend. The game saw a slow start from both teams before Moss Vale jumped out to a double-digit lead at halftime. The Hawks boys fought back during the third quarter before running away with the game in the final term, 65-51. Flynn Hutchinson led the scoring for the game and finished with 20 points to lead the scorers. Game 2 pitted us against the Albury Bandits, a team who had their 14-point win in the first game. It was a tough game that saw a few of the Hawks starters in early foul trouble. The Hawks hit the lead early in 1st quarter and despite the foul trouble they never looked back. Albury battled hard, but the Hawks pushed away for a 16-point win. It was a great team performance with every player contributing to the team score. Mitch Taylor lead the scoring with 18 points, while Felix Nockels had 14. The final game on Sunday morning saw us take on Wagga Wagga Wolves. it was another tightly contested game with the Wolves holding a 9-point lead with 3 minutes left in the game. Some great team defence. Some amazing defence highlighted by a Mitch Taylor charge led to Max Fares being fouled with 4.4 seconds left and the scores tied at 45-45. As cool as a cucumber, Max walked to the line and knocked down both freebies giving the team a 47-45 lead. After the timeout, some more great defence and a steal before Felix was fouled just before the buzzer giving us a 49-45 win. The team coached by Jackson Paulic consists of: Jacob Van Alphen, Max Biela, Lewis Broers, Liam Clark, Max Fares, Blue Harland-Wright, Zac Heffernan, Flynn Hutchinson, Felix Nockels, and Mitch Taylor

- Eric Lowe
Last week we lost another great friend and servant to the sport of basketball. Eric Lowe was a long time assistant coach to Brendan Joyce at the Hawks. During this time, Eric was extremely hard working, passionate and loyal and won championships in the CBA and NBL. Eric also developed and coached junior teams in Victoria and here in NSW with IBA junior rep teams. Our thoughts are with Eric's family during this time.
- Ralph Keats
Ralph Keats was a former Hawks' Director, Team Manager, and Supporters Club Chairperson from 1986 to 1998. Ralph recently passed away peacefully in his sleep, holding onto one of his daughters' hands. He had been battling lung and liver cancer for the last 12 months. The last 2 weeks saw a sudden decline and he has stayed at home surrounded by loved ones and visitors until his recent passing. Ralph looked forward to the Hawks Old Boy reunions and catching up to talk about the good old days. Our thoughts are with Ralph's family at this time.
